STORYLINE:
Churchgoers in Las Pinas attended a dawn mass on Wednesday, the first in an annual series of nine leading up to Christmas.
Worshippers turned out despite the rain to observe the tradition.
The dawn mass, known locally as Simbang Gabi, is a centuries-old tradition in the predominantly Catholic Philippines which teaches the meaning of Christmas.
