(25 Mar 2018) Christians in Jerusalem marked Palm Sunday, the start of the Holy Week which concludes with Easter.
Crowds of faithful gathered in Jerusalem's Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Many waved palm fronds to symbolise how worshippers greeted Jesus over 2,000 years ago as he triumphantly returned to Jerusalem.
Later on Sunday, pilgrims will retrace Jesus' route with a traditional procession into Jerusalem's Old City from the Mount of Olives, while carrying palm fronds to symbolise the observance.
Orthodox Christians, who use a different calendar, will celebrate Palm Sunday a week later.
