In this video you can watch Wado Ryu Kata: Wanshu, the eighth Kata in Kani Uchi’s curriculum.

This form consists of techniques like Shuto Uke, Ude Uke, Morote Kumade Uke and many more.

In our Dojo, this Kata is the third “non-Pinan-Kata” which is taught, though this order is arbitrary, Wanshu is a quite challenging Kata.

Wanshu is the second out of two Wado Kata to include a jumping technique (not my personal strong point), though the jump is important, it is not the defining aspect of the Kata and should not be treated as such.

Wanshu is also known as Enpi.

At Kani Uchi, this is the Kata for third degree brown belt (1st Kyu)
