Atlanersa, a Kushite ruler of the Napatan kingdom of Nubia, reigned during the mid-7th century BC. He succeeded Tantamani, the last ruler of the 25th Dynasty of Egypt, and was likely the son of Taharqa or possibly Tantamani. His mother was a queen whose name remains partially preserved.
Atlanersa's reign began during a period of significant upheaval. The Nubian control over Egypt had collapsed, marked by the Assyrian conquest of Egypt and the rise of Psamtik I, heralding the start of the Late Period. Despite these turbulent times, Atlanersa's reign was a period of cultural integration and resilience for the Kushite civilization.
