Indian and Chinese troops are locked in a border standoff for over 2 years. The new Chinese Foreign Minister hinted at the possibility of de-escalation. Chinese FM Qin Gang said that “both countries are willing to ease situation”. FM Qin said that both sides agreed to jointly protect peace along the borders. Recently, Indian, PLA troops clashed in Tawang Sector of Arunachal Pradesh. Indian, Chinese troops suffered minor injuries in the clash on December 09. 17th round of Corps Commander Level talks at Chushul-Moldo border was held on Dec 20. Both sides agreed to maintain security & stability on the ground in Western Sector. Qin Gang, China’s Ambassador to the US, was named country’s new Foreign Minister on Dec 30. Qin had earlier served as President Xi Jinping’s chief protocol officer between 2014-2018.
