What an epic day out top water fishing! Clinton, Sam and I shot out from Whitianga to chase Kingfish. The week prior Clinton fished in the area for the Luremaster’s competition and he lost some epic Kingfish so we put this area back on our target list and shot out there when the opportunity presented itself. Clinton is due to have his first baby so we couldn’t miss out on this trip.
The morning started off a bit slow but after the tide changed, we saw some epic fishing all happening in the last two hours. We caught some epic kingy’s and we lost some too.
A little on what we were using and the boat we took out:
We took out the Offshore 750, it rides so well through chop and swells. Fitted with the latest technology, Simrad head unit and Yamaha helm master, this boat is a dream to take out. When I am filming or fishing it really is a dream to be handsfree.
We fished with Daiwa Certate reel to catch bait and Kingy's.
U-dek is so nice especially with the warmer weather – having barefoot is a dream, definitely can’t do that when you have aluminium floor.
As always, we towed this beast of a boat on the CAM trailer and it is equipped with the Boatcatch. This makes the boat ramp fiasco so quick and easy. You can get Boatcatch from Fusion Leisure.
