Large natural green Kunzite gemstone originating from Afghanistan. This weighs 19.10 CTS and has been cut and faceted into an emerald shape. This measures approximately 20.7x 10.8 x 9.2 mm.

The stone has a somewhat similar appearance to green amethyst, however this has a much stronger glow and a noticeably higher luster. The coloring is a, bright neon shade of green with slight undertones of gold.

The gem is fully transparent and has extremely good clarity for such a large piece. One small natural inclusion is visible along the side of the stone but is otherwise quite clean. This would be considered close to eye clean or VI clarity.

Green Kunzite, also known has hiddenite or lithia emerald, is the green to yellow - green silica mineral variety of the mineral Spodumene. The gem has a glassy transparency and is pleochoic and shifts into different tones.

Kunzite is a relatively new gem on the market. It was discovered in 1902 and named after the gemologist who discovered the stone, George Kunz. The hardness of the stone rates 6.5 - 7 on the MOHS scale, making this acceptable for regular wear.
