Chuka Umunna has told a press conference he was "absolutely delighted" to have joined the Liberal Democrats.
He joked that he had never been a particularly "tribal" person politically - having moved from Labour to the Independent Group, and now to the Lib Dems.
And he said: "I am absolutely delighted to be part of the Liberal Democrat team and a member of this party, and I'm incredibly grateful for the wonderful warm welcome that I have had since the news broke last night."
Sir Ed Davey, Liberal Democrat leader candidate, has welcomed the former Labour MP to the party, despite old tweets posted by Chuka Umunna being brought to light. Mr Davey spoke with Julia Hartley-Brewer about the latest Lib Dem MP.
