Victoria has recorded 532 new coronavirus cases, the highest single-day total in the state since the pandemic began, amid a "disturbing" increase in infections in aged care settings.
There are now 683 active cases of COVID-19 linked to outbreaks at 61 aged care facilities in Victoria, or about 15 per cent of the state's total infections.
Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton said the outbreaks in aged care were "a consequence of community transmission".
