ASCENDU has created a mountain bike able to climb unrideable climbs. It allows to make mountain routes that were not possible to make before or they would require to hike. This is achieved keeping the ability to ride any conventional mountain bike route. The solution is similar to some motorbikes with two front wheels. The bike, or more precisely, the trike has two front wheels with a leaning system that allows to ride over bumpy and inclined terrain. It has a lower handlebar that allows the rider to transfer weight from one wheel to the other keeping the balance without speed or when there is lack of traction. It also has an upper handlebar for conventional riding and for downhill. The ASCENDU trike has a reduction gear for extreme climbs with big gradients. This ultrashort gear allows to apply the torque on the rear wheel to keep the traction on slippery terrain. The trike is able to climb riding 50% slope with slippery terrain and loose stones or 70% slope with grippy terrain. Therefore it opens up most paths in high mountains for riding rather than hiking. The frame breaks away for easy transportation in a car and storage in a flat. There is also an electric assisted e-trike version.
This is a summary of the advantages from ASCENDU trikes:
• You can You can do routes with higher inclination and more accumulated climb with less effort and getting less tired.
• You can ride all the way up pedaling extreme climbs that you cannot do so with your top of the range mountain bike or e-bike.
• You can keep up with conventional bikes in most of the situations in recreational riding.
• You can ride new routes that you did not ride before because there were climbs where you had to dismount and walk.
• You can fit it inside of a car or a flat without using tools. The frame is breakable and the wheels can be removed.
ASCENDU manufactures the trikes in Spain. The design is protected by intellectual property registration. You can order one in www.ascendubikes.com.
