Arnold “Red” Auerbach, built the #BostonCeltics into one of the greatest dynasties in sports, presiding over 16 NBA championship teams as a coach, general manager and club president. Auerbach also played a pivotal role in the civil rights movement.
As a Brooklyn born Jew, transplanted to Washington DC and then Boston, Red understood that struggles people of color had to fight through. Red empowered his players to build the Celtics unparalleled championship culture and tradition. That empowerment displayed trust in the men on his team. Arnold drafted the first black player in #nbahistory, started the first all black five, hired the first black coach in all of American professional sports.
In 2008 the Boston Celtics won their 1st title without Red Auerbach and their only title since 1986.
