How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the SkinnyWarrior from Yakima on our 2022 Kia Sorento. Adding a cargo basket to your vehicle is gonna help solve the problem that people with vehicles like the Sorento encounter as far as having not enough cargo space, especially if you have the third row option like the one that we're looking at. If you have all three rows up, you don't have practically any cargo area, and that's where the SkinnyWarrior would come into play 'cause it allows you to get those bigger, bulkier items on top of your vehicle and make use of your roof without taking up your entire roof rack system. So you can use other things like a kayak carrier or possibly a rooftop bike carrier. The SkinnyWarrior, it's made of steel and it has a weather-resistant powder coat that's gonna help you keep a nice, long life on it and hold up to those rough elements in the real world. As far as the dimensions of this guy, we are at 58-inches long, 23-inches across, and it's 6 1/2 inches tall.
As far as the height from the top of the vehicle, from the lowest point of the SkinnyWarrior, you're right at 4 1/2 inches. So you have plenty of clearance underneath. And as far as how you install is four clamps with hand screws that you're just gonna tighten across your bars. It's gonna work with the elliptical, aero, square, just about any type of bars that are out there. In this particular case, we have the Yakima CoreBar on, and these guys are gonna be like kind of elliptical style and it just clamps right on them.
The SkinnyWarrior also comes with a fairing that's gonna help cut down on wind noise by redirecting the wind resistance as you're going down the road. When it comes to adding cargo options to the Sorento, you can go with a rooftop basket like the SkinnyWarrior, or you can go with something like the SkyBox from Yakima. That's an enclosed box. That's gonna allow you to actually secure something in a lockable case and protect it from the elements. Alternatively, if you want to stick with the SkinnyWarrior, it's gonna allow you to make use of more of your rooftop, where most cargo boxes, larger cargo boxes are gonna take up a lot of space.
The weight capacity of your SkinnyWarrior is right at 165. However, you want to definitely make sure you check your owner's manual for your rooftop capacity, and make sure you're checking your crossbars for their capacity as well. And the lowest rating is where your capacity is gonna land. In general, the SkinnyWarrior, I found that when speaking to our neighbors, is very popular. People like how easy it is to install, they like how durable it is, and they like the fact that you can add a 16-inch extension to make it longer for whatever situation that you may have, if you have longer items.
