When a customer strolled into this empty bar in Queens, the bartender probably got excited that he was finally going to make some money. Instead, the customer turned out to be an armed robber who ended up making off with hundreds of dollars in stolen cash.
The disappointing incident took place at around 3:00 am at JD’s Saloon in Bayside, when the 35-year-old male employee was preparing for last call. Surveillance footage shows the suspect strolling in and sitting at the bar, seemingly interested in buying a drink.
As the bartender slides a coaster down in front him, the man suddenly whips out a handgun and orders him to empty the cash register. The bartender quickly complies and hands over a wad of cash that totaled in the neighborhood of $700.
Police have described the suspect as a light-skinned male anywhere from 30 to 40 years old who was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, red hooded sweater, dark pants, and a black ski cap. Viewers who recognize the culprit are encouraged to phone in an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
