News opens to KTTC News as of June 4th and 5th of 2023, recorded in favor of the new GrayONE graphics package that debuted over onto KTTC on June 4th, 2023 during their 5pm newscast.
I wanted to record and put together this short little montage in favor to show off a brief sample of how KTTC News implemented their graphical use and their opens together. KTTC as well with it's sister station KXLT both got GrayONE graphics on June 4th, 2023.
Other than the graphics being implemented over, everything else within the branding specs remains the same, with "The Rock" by Stephen Arnold Music continuing to be the music package, although they've recently made more favor of expanding some of the cut usage over (still stuck with the OGs on some of the opens, I can now finally hear some of the KXAS 2021 cuts starting to shed in some light over to the stations!). The station's voiceover artist continues to be Bill Ratner.
•MY THOUGHTS ON THE LAUNCH:
Overall, out of all of the stations who so far have implemented the GrayONE graphics, I'd say this station has implemented the worst. The color scheme doesn't seem to match with the main branding aspects, as well with their logo with their blue and gold color scheme mushed in together. I also think that keeping in some of the OG cuts from "The Rock" package that they have on some of the opens to be lackluster, and it just cheapens the overall feel to the station. It's obvious that some of the updated cuts from "The Rock" (notably the KXAS 2021 ones) kinda work better, and as for the OG cuts (i.e. from the 2005 era & V.2 of the package) they just doesn't work anymore to this day. Sounds very outdated and annoying to kinda listen to, especially when it comes to a modern new graphical package that's been developed. Speaking of the music package, the opens seem to only have it's two separate ones that are for day and night (Mostly it's the daytime open, just with different cuts of "The Rock" being used throughout the day. Is this becoming a resync project or what?)
Personally, I find WGEM and WCSC to be my favorite stations so far who've launched the GrayONE package, under the reasons together with the color scheme and palate and their expanded usage of it makes their implementations look good.

*Before you guys ask about KXLT FOX 47's open: Yes, I'm aware it's absent in this montage. I've been having issues grabbing that station lately. It didn't feel right for me to include the first launch open from my recordings from 6/4/2023, and I missed my opportunity the following day of 6/5/2023 to record, so I guess I have to move on. I'll eventually post a separate montage to that station, though.*
