Live fire training is going on in Chattanooga for the next three days, and it's just what it sounds like.
25 recruits in Fire Academy are experiencing LIVE fire training at a donated house on Fagan Street.
Starting today, trained staff will show the recruits how to search for people in houses while blindfolded.
All to simulate the realistic conditions of a real house fire, with thick, black smoke.
"We're setting pallets and straw on fire inside the building, and it gives them a realistic approach to how they would go in and attack a fire, it gives them the live smoke and the flames they could visually see," said Chattanooga Fire Department Training Chief Phil Hyman.
Finally on Friday, fire fighters plan to burn the donated house to the ground.
Depend on NewsChannel9 to be on hand for that event.
