Slater and Gordon’s personal injury and family law teams spent a night on the streets of Manchester to raise awareness of homelessness and funds for the Booths Centre.
The Manchester Sleep Out invites people to take on the challenge of sleeping out for one night to highlight some of the hardships that people have to face every night. Here’s how our team got on.

So one night the Booth Centre invites people to sleep outside to experience what some people who are homeless have to experience every night.
I think it’s just important to raise awareness of the issue. Obviously it’s an issue us working in Manchester we see every day and it’s something that needs to be addressed.
Ordinarily we usually work out some kind of Christmas gift or homelessness appeal over the winter but this year we’re putting ourselves in their shoes.
I think one of the most important things is for homeless people to feel human, and that’s something we’ve really found about working through the Booth Centre, because they don’t just focus on monetary help and education.
We at Slater and Gordon went to the Booth Centre and we did some work experience. We met the volunteers and some of the service users as well.
Slater and Gordon have been very good in giving us the time out of work to volunteer at the Booth Centre, for getting our message out there, to be able to raise funds and generally getting other colleagues involved as well.
So we’ve started a JustGiving page, which we’ve also been sharing on social media and Slater and Gordon’s also been sharing it as well, so you can donate that way. You can also donate directly to the Booth Centre. They always need extra support, whether it’s in terms of money or physical clothes or toiletries.
So we’ve just been for food and this is the weather before we go for the sleep out. So we started off at the Cathedral we’re waiting for the streetwise choir to come one we actually learnt some of the words when we visited the Booth centre so we’ll probably will be singing along. So we’re setting up for the night now. Say hiya everybody. So we’re set up as you can see. Rach say hi. Rach is digging out her umbrella, raining. So it’s about 5:15 am and we made it through the night there was only one short stint of rain.
