I am Lucky indeed to visit St.Jakobi church on my 41st Birthday.The covid19 didnt stop me to see the impressive and solemn church.Thank u oh Dear Lord for everything.Amen
Churches
Probably the most impressive historical buildings in Stralsund are the three parish churches. Their towers tower above all other buildings. The Marien, Nikolai and Jakobi churches shape the city skyline from both the sea and the land side.
St. Jakobi Church
The St. Jakobi Church, first mentioned in 1303, is the youngest of the three Stralsund parish churches.
In the 14th century, the central nave in the original hall church was raised, the side aisles were expanded with chapels and the west tower was built. With the 68 meter high tower, the choirless church receives its most beautiful architectural part. The basilica clearly stands out from the other churches on the Strelasund thanks to the variously glazed molded stones and the wealth of ornamental panels and friezes.
