FANUC’s Power Motion i-MODEL A motion controller is an integrated motion solution scalable from 1 to 32 axes while also capable of 4-axis simultaneous interpolation in multiple paths. The Power Motion i-MODEL A is available with the iPendant handheld HMI. The iPendant is a fully-functional and programmable operator interface offering both ease of use and application flexibility.
In this application the FANUC Power Motion i-MODEL A is controlling a Güdel gantry with two 3-axis ZP3 modules on a single rail. This configuration can be used for various types of material handling applications such as palletizing and machine tending. Each path on the system has horizontal and vertical axes and a wrist for payload rotation of 360 degrees.
Being a fully integrated PLC and motion controller, the Power Motion i-MODEL A offers different options for control of the axes. The left carriage utilizes typical PLC motion commands while the right carriage uses industry standard ISO G-code programming. Also shown is the capability of synchronizing axis motion between the two carriages on-the-fly. This allows the flexibility of handling payloads of varying sizes and weights based on your application needs. The operator is able to select the movement endpoints simply by jogging the gantry to the desired positions and pressing the set end point button on the touch screen to teach this position.
To illustrate the Power Motion i-MODEL A capability of up to 4 axis of simultaneous interpolation, the right carriage does a full circle using horizontal and vertical axes followed by an interpolated move incorporating the wrist. This allows you programming path flexibility to achieve maximum throughput.
The iPendant is a standard FANUC HMI fully compatible with the 10.4 inch and 15 inch displays. It also uses FANUC PICTURE for easy HMI development. Included are over 100 industry recognized standard FANUC screens for operation, maintenance and programming.
