SC Seeks Governor's order, Letters of Support to Fadnavis; Final Order Tomorrow
Maharashtra Govt Formation LIVE Updates: BJP held a press conference justifying the sudden twist in Maharashtra. Addressing the media, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Devendra Fadnavis has had the mandate of the people ever since the election results were announced. He also took a jibe at Shiv Sena for splitting from BJP and allying with Congress and NCP only to be in power.
Earlier the day, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray held a joint press conference at YB Chavan Centre in Mumbai. Pawar said that he had no idea regarding his nephew Ajit Pawar's sudden decision to support BJP. He added that no NCP legislature will second Ajit Pawar's move. Along with Uddhav, Pawar reiterated that Shiv Sena and NCP are together and will remain together.
Meanwhile, in a surprising development, BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday was sworn-in as Maharashtra Chief Minister for the second consecutive term while Ajit Pawar was administered oath by Governor BS Koshyari as the deputy chief minister. The news comes as a big surprise as Sharad Pawar last evening had announced a consensus on Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray as CM.
After swearing-in as Maharashtra CM again, Fadnavis said that an economically progressive state like Maharashtra cannot be under President’s rule. He also said that this had to be done for the betterment of the people.
"People had given us a clear mandate, but Shiv Sena tried to ally with other parties after results, as a result, President's rule was imposed. Maharashtra needed a stable govt, not a 'khichdi' govt," Devendra Fadnavis said after taking oath as Maharashtra CM again.
