The Trump administration is scrapping a program that protects young, undocumented migrants from deportation.
With more on this and other news around the world we turn to Ro Aram…
Aram… Attorney General Jeff Sessions formally announced the withdrawal of the Obama-era DACA program on Tuesday…
What does this mean for the 800-thousand so-called "dreamers" that are under the scheme?
Well Connie… Congress now has six months to come up with comprehensive legislation on the issue, before the scheme is scrapped over the course of the next two years.
Therefore those covered by the program will not be affected until March fifth 2018.
However, first-time applications that are yet to be finalized will not be acted on after Tuesday.
Attorney General Sessions said there would be what he called an "orderly, lawful wind-down" of DACA.
He called it an unconstitutional overreach by former President Barack Obama.
Trump later issued a statement saying "I do not favor punishing children, most of whom are now adults, for the actions of their parents. But we must also recognize that we are a nation of opportunity because we are a nation of laws."
The administration's announcement brought widespread criticism, with Democratic lawmakers in several states saying they plan to collectively file a suit in the coming days.
Hundreds of protestors also rallied in front of the White House and several cities across the country.
Prominent CEOs in Silicon Valley, including from Facebook, Microsoft and Alphabet, have also decried the move, urging Congress to quickly act to protect "dreamers."
