(19 Sep 2015) Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic visited the northeastern town of Beli Manastir on Saturday where scores of refugees and migrants have been waiting to cross into Hungary at the nearby border.
Milanovic said he "still cannot understand what Hungary is doing" by closing its borders to the migrants and refugees trying to enter, adding that his country "will not become the European refugee camp".
Croatia said Friday it cannot and will not close its borders, but will redirect people towards Hungary and Slovenia.
The government then started transporting refugees and migrants to Beli Manastir, where the temporary reception centre was set up.
