Thousands of people every year provide unpaid care for a loved one. Many suffer difficulties as a result - their health may deteriorate, or they might struggle with money as they reduce their working hours to provide care, or stop work altogether. Many carers don't think of themselves as such - they feel they're being a good neighbour/son/daughter/parent/friend etc - and as a result, they're not aware of the support available to them.
In this session, led by Carers in Southampton in conjunction with Citizens Advice Southampton, you'll learn who is classed as a carer and the support available for carers in the City. You'll also learn how to spot a carer and how to signpost or refer to appropriate services.
This video was recorded and released as part of the Advice in Southampton conference, Advice in Action, in October 2021.
