Presented by Dan Creighton,
Geologists of Jackson Hole
Oil and gas fraccing (hydraulic fracturing) has frequently been blamed for causing contamination of groundwater. Our speaker, Dan Creighton had a long career in the petroleum industry and is well equipped to lead us in an investigation of oil and gas operations, including fraccing. Examined will be the potential for pollution of surface and groundwater resources. Enforcement of regulations and the integrity of oil and gas companies are key factors to prevent pollution. We will look at various wellsite operations and how they can cause leaks, and of what magnitude. The early focus will be on general operations and then we will review some areas in Wyoming, including the Pavillion Field that has memorably been in the news.
