Look, one of the big things with my success when it comes to delivery driving is being able to find every address. Because, if you can't find them, they will drive you mad and cost you money.
So what are you going to do? Sometimes you're going to be sent to regional distribution centers (RDCs). But it's not always that straightforward. Sometimes your manifest will say nothing at all. So what are you going to do to get around these things? Today I'm going to break that all down for you.

So first of all, get yourself a decent sat-nav, get yourself the phone ones that I find work the best are Waze or Google Maps.
If you're going to do the multi-drop, you also going to want a multi-drop app that fits in which Waze is very good. It actually goes with the two of them because the sat-nav is going to be your first protocol.
I always go to the postcode first. Go to the postcode because sometimes you might put in the address.
The first thing that will get you to the rough area. Now, there's a caveat on that. That's not always the winner, but that will give you the rough area.
But sometimes a postcode can be a problem. What do you do then?
Well, the first thing you're going to do is have a look at the paperwork. See if there's a telephone number on the paperwork. And if there is what you do, you ring the customer.
Sometimes it's a tricky kind of thing. If that doesn't work, ask local people. Go, "Mate, I'm trying to find this place. Any idea where it is?" Particularly if the names change recently, they'll go, "Oh, yeah, that used to be Barry's. Yeah, that's over there, mate."
Are you looking to go, "Oh, nice of them to put a sign up." That kind of thing. Local people can be your friend, but you've got to be discerning with the local people. Talk to them.
Sometimes they'll go, "Yeah, yeah, mate, I think, "if they say, I think, be wary."I think it's down around about and turn left. You think, think doesn't butter past it, my friend.
I need you to know. Other things, for example, a lot of the time, if you're doing the multi-job if you're going to like addresses, courts. Courts are flats. Sometimes you'll get there and it will be like, flat two, flat four, flat-six, you're delivering to flat eight, flat two, flat four, flat-six, flat 20, flat 22. Where's flat eight? You've got to use your common sense.
You've got to look around. Look around. Oh, there's an alleyway down here. Down the alleyway. You go down the alley, you realize behind their cluster homes, the rest of it is behind.
If you can catch a postman, you've had an absolute winner because that person knows that area. If it's a regular drop, like the back of their hand. And they'll also know if the name's changed. They'll know if anything is moved on. You try to get as much information as you possibly can. You ask the local people, that kind of thing.
The other thing you can do if the sat-nav takes you to the wrong place is to change the sat-nav. So say, for example, I had this the other day, I'm on Google maps at the moment. I'm using Google maps, my current weapon of choice.
It gets easier. Experience will be the winner. At the end of the day, you can only do what you can do and you can try your hardest to find it. You ring in. You speak to the customer, you speak to them. If you can't find it at the end of the day, it's going to have to go back. Someone else will take it. It's not life or death.
Chances are that delivery is not life or death. But those are a few tips that I hope do help in trying to find addresses.
