After visiting The Strid many times and hearing stories of people jumping over it, successfully and otherwise, I was always curious as to how it might be possible. The water is normally so high, so turbulent, and the banks at the side so moss-covered and slippery that jumping over looked impossible. On this visit, following a very warm and dry period, the river was much lower; more take-off and landing ledges were exposed and these had completely dried out. Finally it was possible to experience a little piece of local folklore and jump over The Strid.
