Dr Rutvica Andrijasevic, along with academics at the University of Bristol, has conducted research which uncovers the exploitation of #migrant worker rights and the effect of manufacturing.
After speaking directly to the workers themselves, they were able to gather a significant number of interviews with current workers, former workers and some management staff. A number of factors became apparent through the investigation; wage penalties, long working hours, random shift patterns and unpaid overtime.
Their #research became impactful via collaboration with NGOs, Trade Unions and large independent monitoring association that led to audits within the factories, with an aim to improve working conditions and assist migrant #workers.
