Hogansville, Georgia is located halfway between Columbus and Atlanta. It's population was 3125 according to 2019 census. Idyllic small town charm that is finding ways to preserve its lovely history while repurposing it's old buildings to new venues.
The Royal Theatre in all it's magnificent glory may not be in use as a theatre, but it is being preserved for future generations. The Grand Hotel built around 1860 still stands and has been refurbished and is open as a hotel.
Amazingly, there are no buildings in the downtown area that are missing their roof or their walls are crumbling from neglect and disinterest. This was a pleasant visit that gives us hope. A little TLC goes a long way!
