A South African research-based theatre project that grapples with ocean governance in the country provided a poignant performance as part of the United Nations commemorations of World Oceans Day in New York.
Emphatheatre's Lalela uLwandle, which means 'Listen to the Sea', explores intergenerational environmental injustices and sheds light on inclusive forms of ocean governance. Lead actor and co-director of Emphatheatre, Mpume Mthombeni, also addressed U.N. Member states directly.
