This case discussion will focus on a 67-year-old male patient who presents with a six-month history of dry cough and shortness of breath. The patient has a history of smoking and on physical examination, bilateral velcro crepitus and finger clubbing were observed. These findings and additional laboratory findings suggest interstitial lung disease, a group of disorders that affect the tissue and space surrounding the air sacs in the lungs.
