Hundreds of lanterns dot the night sky in northern Taiwan as crowds flock to the Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival to pray for good health and fortune, a highlight of the island’s two-week Lunar New Year celebration which comes to a close on February 15. The annual event, now in its 23rd year, was cancelled last year due to the pandemic.
