Cristina Rivera Garza discussed "The Taiga Syndrome" at the 2019 Library of Congress National Book Festival in Washington, D.C.
- Cristina Rivera Garza is the award-winning author of numerous works of fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Originally written in Spanish, these works have been translated into English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Korean and other languages. In 2018 "The Taiga Syndrome" was published in the United States by Dorothy, a Publishing Project. In a starred review, Kirkus Reviews called the novel "an eerie, slippery gem of a book." In 2017 Feminist Press published "The Illiac Crest," which Shelf Awareness called "a complex puzzle that might take multiple readings to unravel fully." Born in Mexico, Rivera Garza has lived in the United States since 1989. She is Distinguished Professor in Hispanic Studies and director of creative writing at the University of Houston.
