Canada's auditor general released its spring 2019 report into the government's finances, taking a look at various issues including how Ottawa is handling asylum claims.
Experts said on Tuesday, May 7, that the country's immigration system is not flexible enough to handle the influx of irregular migrants and that the recent budget won't help in managing the backlog.
They also spoke about the RCMP, saying five years after the Moncton shootings the police force was not prepared to respond to an active shooter. They said they had mismanaged the purchase, distribution and ongoing maintenance of semi-automatic rifles known as carbines.
