Meet Thomas Potter, construction control representative with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' (USACE) Norfolk District. In this episode of the Norfolk Spotlight, Thomas conducts a dredge site inspection on the James River and explains why he enjoys working to support Corps civil works missions.
USACE Civil Works missions provide water resources support to the commonwealth of Virginia and nongovernmental organizations with environmental restoration, flood-risk management, and navigation services. Norfolk District’s Civil Works operational footprint spans over 21,000 square miles, including the Rappahannock, York, James and Chowan river basins, as well as the Virginia portion of the Chesapeake Bay.
