STORYLINE:
A series of explosions rocked Baghdad on Thursday morning, killing at least 11 people and wounding 26 in attacks, police said.
Three car bombs detonated within minutes of each other in front of a grocery store in the predominantly Sunni neighbourhood of Dora in southern
Baghdad.
At least seven people died and 20 were wounded, a police officer said on condition of anonymity because of security concerns.
Another car bomb exploded in central Baghdad during the rush hour, killing four people and wounding 11, police said.
Two police officers, speaking on condition of anonymity because of security concerns, confirmed the car bomb attack, one saying the death toll was expected to rise.
Two of those wounded were policemen, they said.
The injured from the blast received treatment at al Kindi Hospital in the Iraqi capital.
At least two huge explosions rang out across the area about an hour apart.
Meanwhile, funerals were held in Baghdad for the victims of a suicide car bomb in a crowded market in the impoverished Sadr City neighbourhood on Wednesday.
Seventeen Shiites were killed in the blast just before 1600 (1200 GMT). More than 30 more were injured.
Sadr City is a sprawling Shiite district of some 2.5 (m) million people in eastern Baghdad.
The blast, which shattered the windows of nearby buildings, came one day after car bombings killed scores of university students just two miles away.
There are fears that armed militant groups, both Sunni and Shiite, will launch more attacks in a fresh wave of violence ahead of a neighbourhood-by-neighbourhood security sweep throughout Baghdad by US and Iraqi forces.
No group has admitted the marketplace attack.
