Even with a black dashboard, reflections can obliterate details such as license plates. First, I tried gluing a CPL filter to the dashcam, but it didn't resolve the problem. It also made the image darker at night. Purchasing a custom dashboard cover was an improvement, but the sheen was visible in the dashcam. It was also visible while driving. So, I purchased a can of matte clear paint, and as you can see, the result is quite good. It doesn't affect the appearance either. You can't tell it was spray painted.
