Floating Fireplace Mantel || DIY Faux Beam Floating Mantel …In this video, I update a painted fireplace mantel with a shiny new white oak floating fireplace mantel to give the appearance of a solid slab of white oak. A floating fireplace mantel can be a focal point of a family room, so adding some wood texture to complement a painted white palette can really add some dimension to the room. My original plan was to slide the new fireplace mantel over the existing one, but that quickly fell apart when I realized it was a little lacking in support.
