I have the Redmi Note 12 smartphone from Xiaomi right here and in today's video I will be showing you how to gain root access to this device with MIUI installed.
NOTE - An Unlocked Bootloader is REQUIRED to flash the patched file shown in this video.

The first thing we need to do is download the firmware that matches the same version of MIUI that we have installed. Now we need to download the Fastboot ROM of this firmware.
If you download the Recovery ROM then you won't be able to extract the boot.img file that we need.
Find and extract the boot.img file from the firmware you just downloaded and copy it to the Redmi Note 12.
With that file obtained, we then need to install Magisk onto the device.
Let me know if you end up having trouble installing this APK file. I know MIUI can be strict when trying to install apps from an unknown source on devices without a SIM card installed.
This root guide will work on the base model of the Redmi Note 12 and the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed variant. And it will work for both the China and Global releases.
With the Magisk app installed, let's go ahead and open it up and then tap the Install button in this top card here.
Now we're going to need to browse to where ever we put that boot.img file and then select it from within the Magisk app.
Let the app patch the file and make note of the file that it outputs.Then we need to take this file and copy it to our PC. This magisk_patched file needs to be put in the same folder as our ADB & Fastboot tools.
From here, let's go ahead and boot the Redmi Note 12 into Fastboot Mode. If you're not aware of how this is done, check down in the video description area as I will include a link to a dedicated tutorial I did that shows all of the steps involved. With the phone in Fastboot Mode, we also need to connect it to the PC with a USB cable.
Again, we need to make sure the magisk_patched file is in the same folder as our ADB & Fastboot tools. Then, we need to open up a command prompt, windows powershell, or a terminal window within the same folder as all of these files.
We're going to type out the command. . .
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched_filename_here
When you're ready, press the Enter button on the keyboard and make sure that we see an OKAY message twice.
If you see an error here then the process did not work correctly and you will not get root access.
But as long as we get two OKAY message, we can then force the Redmi Note 12 to reboot by pressing and holding the Power button for 7-10 seconds.
We should wait patiently while the device boots back into Android and then we can unlock it like we normally would.
Go ahead and look for the Magisk application again and open it up.
We may end up being told that Magisk needs to complete the installation.
Or we may just see that Magisk has been installed properly.
