I know what you’re thinking: “wait, I thought only training noobs use the smith machine for squats?” WRONG. In all reality, yes, the free weight barbell back squat is the king of lower body strength & hypertrophy developers. There’s no contesting that whatsoever.
However, for those of you looking to maximize hypertrophy by adding in some strong accessory work for quadriceps, the feet-forward smith squats are BOMB.
Simple, yet effective & consistent use of exercises like this will undoubtedly be of benefit to your hypertrophy training. However, if you can’t barbell squat 315 ATG, then this movement shouldn’t even be in your vocabulary yet.
