While the FW de Klerk Foundation has withdrawn and unconditionally apologised for its statement on apartheid, the incident has brought back painful memories for many who suffered under apartheid. The Black Centric Forum says former President De Klerk's initial denial of apartheid as a crime against humanity is because no action has been taken against the leaders and enforcers of apartheid. The civic organisation says while Jewish people are still reparated for the Halocaust, South Africa has fallen short when it comes to compensating victims of human rights atrocities committed in the name of apartheid.
