American rock singer Meat Loaf death was caught on video Thursday night during a concert.
A life full of health problems, his controversial opinion regarding the pandemic and a controversy that grows as the hours go by after his family confirmed his death.
According to TMZ, he had been opposed to sanitary measures in Australia, more precisely those that involved health passes or the requirement of full vaccination for certain activities and the use of a mask and mandatory isolation.
He said in dialogue with The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 2021. “I’m happy to give you a hug. I hug people in the middle of COVID.
You do? You’re not afraid?
Oh, I’m scared to death! You kidding me? But I’m sorry, I understood stopping life for a little while, but they cannot continue to stop life because of politics. And right now they’re stopping because of politics. And on CNN last night, it finally came out that the masks we’re all wearing are useless. But I’ve known that for six months. They don’t do anything. They don’t stop you from getting COVID. They’re just a nuisance and make your nose itch and make it so you can’t breathe.
The only good masks are N95. But we got one, and it was so badly made, the straps were so short, they would go on a child. So we had to go on the airplane with the paper masks and then on the way back, we got a Nazi: “Get your mask on now!” They’re power-mad now.
Oh, God. We’re being controlled by everybody.
Yeah, I know. But not me. If I die, I die, but I’m not going to be controlled”.
The 74-year-old was singing his Grammy Award-winning hit “I’d Do Anything for Love” when he collapsed on stage. Assistants rushed towards the singer as he lay on his back, not appearing to be moving.
The death was captured on camera by several concertgoers and immediately began making the rounds on social media.
“Is this really happening?” one female concertgoer can be heard on video asking. “Oh my God.”
The confusion was deepened by the fact that backing tracks appeared to continue for a few seconds even after the singer had stopped singing and collapsed on stage.
Members of the crowd began to chant “Meat Loaf” and clap as the singer lay on the stage.
A reporter and producer at the concert, tweeted that Meat Loaf “did not look well” before he collapsed.
The singer had canceled two recent concerts, including one on Monday in Calgary, “due to Covid-19 symptoms,” according to his official Facebook page.
Local health officials said they took the rocker from the concert hall to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Bat-Out-Of-Hell singer refused to get vaccinated or get tested for Covid. The venue did not have any restrictions.
