Orthodox Christians all over the world headed to churches on the night of January 6 to welcome Christmas in the early hours of January 7.
President Vladimir Putin attended the Christmas Eve liturgy at the Holy Trinity St George Monastery.
Putin congratulated all believers and underlined the importance of the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian confessions in the social life of Russia.
