This remarkable footage was taken amid the chaos and fervor of the fascinating Hindu festival of Thaipusam, held annually in Kuala Lumpur. On the road to the Batu Caves, I captured moments including women having their heads shaved, the whirling men, borne down by elaborate Kavadis or dressed in fantastic feathered costumes, dancing to live drummers in the street. But most compelling are the images of the devout receiving ritual piercings whilst in religious trances.
