On 27 August 2018, French first (commercial) channel TF1 completely rebranded its news, with a new set replacing the 2015 one, and a brand new intro (the last one had not been changed since 2011). One year after public service France 2 moved to a bigger studio and re-recorded their theme with an orchestra, TF1 chose to be closer to the viewers, with a 170 sqm large studio that has a smaller desk and a unique 70 sqm large screen; and the 1990 theme that had been remixed in 2006 (before going back to the original one) and 2011 was refreshed thanks to a 40-string orchestra. A new gold-ish colour (called "Champagne") was introduced. The aim of this redesign is to strenghten TF1's 'premium' status, since its news broadcasts are often considered as the most watched news broadcasts in Europe.
