"We think it is a beautiful day in Florida today. It looks like a nice day for a space shuttle launch. So we are hoping that this weather holds out through all of next week for whatever day we launch. I hope we get this nice dry weather and with an early morning launch we hope to give you a good show and get a good launch."

8. SOUNDBITE: (English) Eileen Collins, STS 114 Shuttle Commander:
"It is very important for us to say that we are very proud of the work that the engineers and the managers and the technicians have done over the past week and a half trying to find out what is going on with this very elusive problem and we have a lot of confidence in what they are doing and we think they have a great plan that they are going forward with. We hope we will launch on Tuesday, but you know regardless of when we launch, you know the launch date to us isn't that important. What is important to us is that we get through this process and we do it right. We have, like I said, a fantastic team of people working on this. They've been putting in very, very long hours and they've been really working hard. They are very dedicated people, very dedicated to the space programme and getting the shuttle flying again. And we are, again, very very proud of the work they are doing and that really comes from the bottom of our hearts. So thanks to all of you out there working to get the shuttle Discovery ready to fly. Having said that, we are really excited about getting this launch off, we are very prepared and we will be talking to you from space. Thanks."

STORYLINE:
NASA Shuttle Discovery Commander Eileen Collins and her crew have arrived back at Kennedy Space Centre ahead of Tuesday's planned launch.
On the verge of a second launch countdown, the astronaut who will lead NASA's return to space said on Friday it's not important when she and her crew fly, but that "we do it right."
Discovery is scheduled to blast off on Tuesday after a two-week delay caused by a malfunctioning fuel gauge.
Collins arrived back at Kennedy Space Centre with her six crewmates, following a brief trip to Houston for launch refresher training.
It was the astronauts first public appearance since 13 July, when NASA halted its first shuttle launch countdown since the 2003 Columbia catastrophe.
