Officials are urgently searching for a missing submarine carrying a group of people who were touring the ship wreckage of the Titanic. The crew following the submarine lost contact with it 100 minutes into the vessel's dive, according to the Coast Guard.
Charley Pereira, a former investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board, says there's "enormous pressure" at the depth the submarine is at, and there are other threats to the vessel as well.
"When you have new groundbreaking ventures like this, there's always going to be risk periods and lessons learned," Pereira told NewsNation.
