This year at The Great Electric Train Show, Pete Waterman and his Railnuts group were back with their second West Coast Mainline layout - Making Tracks II. Like it's predecessor, Making Tracks 2 was on display at Chester Cathedral earlier this year before making the journey South for the Hornby Magazine exhibition in Milton Keynes.
Amazingly I managed to get a few good vantage points along this epic 64ft layout throughout the weekend. With the operating team knowing how to put on a good show there were always trains running and I got lots of footage of trains at various points. I've done my best to stitch these together into little sequences (with some minor liberties taken) to create this extended running session!
This is one of the few layouts out there where you can see a train coming in the distance and have to wait a while before it actually passes you - something which doesn't really translate on camera unfortunately.
Pete Waterman and the Railnuts already have big plans for next year with their next layout being a representation of Milton Keynes Station with the eventual aim of joining both Making Tracks layouts to either end of this in the future to create one super layout. I certainly can't wait to see that!
Thanks for watching 😃
