In this video we’ll explain the different types of beam supports, what kind of reaction forces they develop and how they influence the behaviour of simply supported beams.

Equilibrium is the foundation on which almost all structural analysis is built. We’ll introduce the principle of equilibrium and show how it can be used to determine the reaction forces for simply supported beams. We’ll also look at different types of beam supports, how we can model beam supports and critically how this model behaviour compares to real life support conditions.
