A task for any work of fiction is creating lifelike, believable characters through their agency and the audience's ability to empathize. NANA crafts a richly woven, true-to-life drama through its characters' human quality. Their thoughts and conflicts not only mirror those of actual young adults, but create a unique, intimately relatable experience. Few anime match the "realness" of NANA. But how does the series do it? Today I take a look at what exactly makes NANA feel so real and how its characters and relationships push it a cut above. Note: this video's chock full of spoilers, so be advised: if you haven't seen NANA, you may not want to watch this video. Enjoy!
