Fighting through the remnants of Tropical Storm Ophelia, FDNY land and marine units safely removed a disabled vessel from danger on the evening of September 24th, 2023. It happened in the waters behind the Villa Marie Academy off of Country Club Rd in the Eastchester Bay around 18:30hrs. After a member of the FDNY Marine Unit safely boarded the dead in the water vessel, a Marine Unit was able to tow the boat to a nearby wharf - allowing the firefighter and 1 civilian to disembark safely.
