How will a second Trump presidency affect residential real estate? What’s the outlook for interest rates? Can anything be done to address the missing middle housing problem in the Puget Sound area? Prominent Seattle-based real estate economist Matthew Gardner tackles these questions and more as he outlines his predictions for residential real estate in 2025.
Gardner’s housing forecasts are relied upon by Reuters for the U.S. housing market forecast and by Fannie Mae for its Home Price Expectations survey. He also sits on the Washington State Governor's Council of Economic Advisers and is an advisory board member of the Runstad Department of Real Estate Studies at the University of Washington. In 2023, he was voted Seattle Agent magazine's real estate industry MVP.
